No, AmbientLights is a DIY friendly solution. However, if you aren't much of a DIYer no problem. All you need is a local handyman no electrical wiring is needed!
A mouthful.... Not really, it means Red, Green, Blue and White, which means you can make over 16 million color combinations and you can control the white color making it a cooler or warmer white (something our competition does not have). On top of all that the IC means independently controllable, this means if you wanted to put one light on and then turn the next 6 off and put the next light on in a different color you can. The only limit to our product is your imagination.
IP68 ratings occupy the very top of the IP rating scale. Both the first digit and second digits are at their maximum level:
  • A 6 for total protection against solid ingress.
  • An 8 for total protection against water ingress, up to and including complete submersion below one meter and for more than 30 minutes.
No, our lights are of a puck design and they are spaced 9" apart. Why 9" apart? Well, I realize we are innovating but there is something about keeping traditions alive, 9" is the standard length between your normal C9 bulbs. On top of that with a 9" spacing we ensure there is no color or light drop between bulbs that some other competitors tend to have creating a spot light effect.
We couldn't agree more, in fact one of the reasons we set out to make these lights was because we were not satisfied with how bright some lights were. Each light comes with a whopping 57 lumens so if you want to blind your neighbors like Chevy Chase in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, go right ahead and crank them up. Oh, that made me think of yet another advantage we have our lights are dimmable if you want to set the mood.
You can and you should if you are someone looking for a cheaper option for a straightforward install. However, if you have multiple stories, no access to power in multiple points on your house and can't make a continuous run of lights then they probably aren't the best option. Difference between Govee and what we offer:
  • Channel is an obvious one, no need to have wires showing
  • 48V vs. 36V (Govee), this translates to two key differences light output our lights produce much more light and we can run further without the need to do power injection. Govee’s limit is 150ft continuous (this is key) meaning if you have to jump to another story or add an extension to get to another set of lights you would have to add an additional controller to the mix and they only give you 1 extension cable.
  • RGBWIC vs. RGBIC (Govee) - we offer the same 16million colors plus the option to have cool or warm white light, most people use this when they just want to turn on a few lights to highlight corners or peaks of their house and match their landscape lighting color temperature.
  • Our package allows you to jump between light sets again if you needed to say jump from the first story or a roof section to the second story of a roof section then back down to a first story roof section you can do that with our lights so you have a really clean look vs. having random lights draped down the side of your house vs. your roof line.
  • Our aluminum channel is also customizable for different colors of your soffit/gutters.
  • IP68 vs. IP67(Govee) and our control unit is weather tight Govee you need to install inside somewhere
  • Govee lights offer 1 LED diode so when you look at it they create light effect vs. a seamless gradient of colors. Our lights have 3 RGB LED diodes with a clear side wall allowing light to spread side to side as well as down avoiding a spotlighting effect we also have 3 white LED diodes for a total of 6 per light.
